Alice Böhm built her first marionette at the age of sixteen and is now teaching marionettes at the “University of Music and Dramatic Arts” in Stuttgart,Germany.
Before her studies she, apprenticed as a “technician for plastic and rubber” at the company Teufel Prototypen GmbH. There she learned to handle many different materials and building techiques.
Alice began her studies in 2000 at the acting school "Ernst-Busch" in Berlin, Germany. She then went on to study puppetry at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. She directed and performed in many productions such as “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky, and “Pictures of an Exchibition” by Moussorksky.
During her studies, Alice performed as a puppeteer in the productions “Das Stuttgarter Hutzelmännlein und die Historie der schönen Lau” and “Alice in Wunderland” at the State Theater Stuttgart.
Alice has also attended many workshops, including several with Proffesor Albrecht Roser, the father of the famous "Granny from Stuttgart" and the clown, Gustav. In 2003, she assisted Prof. Albrecht Roser at the International Summer String Academy at the University of Connecticut in America. She was then invited to again teach as part of his “Master Class” workshops in February 2004 and 2005 in Buoch, Germany. And since 2006 she is a member of the staff of the “ O’Neill Puppetry Conference” in Connecticut, USA.
Alice has performed her solo show “Episoden” at the Best of ShowstArt Festival at the Fridrichsbau-Varieté Stuttgart, as well as many other private and public festivals.
In March 2004, Alice debutted her solo show "3- Hieroglyphen- 1 Solo für 2" in Stuttgart and it has gone on to travel to Poland, Austria, and Luxemburg.
In October 2004 she premiered her diploma show “ Muschelkalk - die Liebe des Joachim Ringelnatz” in Germany.
In August 2005 Alice desiged her childrens show “Der Mützendieb im Elfenland” and performed it in Germany.
Alice builds and designs her own puppets using various materials from wood to foam and latex.
