An unknown woman enters an old attic, where she finds a dusty sea chest. The poet Ringelnatz is waiting in this chest because he wants to tell someone about his love.
He tempts the woman with his poems, he guides her to letters, puppets and pulls her into his dream world.
“Muschelkalk - die Liebe des Joachim Ringelnatz” tells the love story between the curious cabaret artist and poet Ringelnatz and his wife Leonarda Pieper (he called her Muschelkalk).
The story is based on the piquant correspondence between the hesitating lovers.
Alice Therese Böhm creats this visually compelling story with masks, marionettes and material. Non material things become an equivalent in the material which symbolizes the dramatically moment.
The expressive masks represent Ringelnatz in his different facets, Ringelnatz the cabaret artist, Ringelnatz the lover, Ringelnatz the homeless sailor, Ringelnatz the everlasting child….
The unusual marionettes and hand puppets communicate with the performer - a game between leading and being led develops.
Accompanied by the sensitive music and words performed by Tobias Grauer, he supports the appearances of the puppets and frames the whole story.
